The M.A. (Theological Research) provides intensive study in a theological discipline or in interdisciplinary programs begun elsewhere at the college or graduate level. It requires a broad familiarity with the various theological disciplines, a substantial degree of specialization and the preparation and defense of a thesis of approximately 100 pages. To be admitted, students must be familiar with basic library research methods. Advanced skills for thesis preparation may be developed by directed study or in consultation with the librarians and faculty mentors. The goals of this degree include: Theological education for focused study in a field of scholarly interest, Preparation for further graduate work beyond the M.A., such as a Ph.D. degree.

Application Fee: Submit a $50 check or money order made payable to Andover Newton Theological School. This fee is non-refundable, Application Form: Complete the application for admission thoroughly, including your signature, date and entry point, Reflections Essay: Address all areas listed on the application form, where you will find detailed instructions. The required length for the Refl ections Essay/Statement is fi ve to ten double-spaced pages, Official Transcripts: All offi cial transcripts of academic work completed since high school are required, Letters of Recommendation: Three letters of recommendation are required. At least one recommendation must be from a pastor or church offi cial. Students should submit all application materials in one packet by, or before, the deadline.
